(Metate / 346 / 347 / 345 / 349 / 351 / 348) Mountain bike trails

As the pollution in Phoenix was already causing me to cough a lot again, I decided to head up into the mountains again for the clean air. I decided to head to Prescott and ride at Granite Basin.

Its about 106 miles to prescott, unfortunately its quite a slow drive as once you get off the I17 as you have to drive through the Prescott valley which is very developed with loads of traffic lights

On I17 heading to Prescott

I arrived at Metate trail head off the Granite Basin Road and parked up, and then headed off on trail 351 which climbs gradually until at the day use equestrian center I then connected onto trail 346 which starts going up more, and then finally I connected onto the 347 which looses all the altitude gained previous to take you down to trail 345 along side Mint wash

Granite basin Lake

Once i was back at the lake i found that i still had plenty of daylight left so i headed off up the 349 trail , which is a great up and down winding singletrack which pass's by balancing rock, eventually i joined the 351 trail again, heading back towards the lake i then turned off on the 348 trail back down to mint wash - which turned out to be a very fun twisty piece of singletrack. For some reason this time riding back along Mint wash I had the feeling something was watching me - so i made double time along the trail.

Sunset by Granite Lake

When i got back to lake the sun was starting to set, but I decided to do one last loop this time heading up up the forest road and then cutting back onto trail 349 for one last blast on the fun swoopey trails and then back down to the SUV managed to put in around 25 miles in total around the basin area.

Packed up the bike and then drove back to Phoenix, stopped at a Ba-ha fresh mexican restaurant and had a massive burrito and then headed back to the hotel for swim hot tub and then a sleep
