Day 14: Drive from Vancouver to Pemberton - via Vancouver airport

We had breakfast at the Lord Stanley suites, where they had quite a good selection of food as a buffet, while we were eating our breakfast back at our room we saw a fender bender down in the road below. We had not stayed in a high rise in a built up area before , the previous night had been an eye opener as you could see what all the people were doing in the other buildings surrounding the one we were staying at.
As there was a fairly late check out at the Hotel we walked into Stanley park and visited the Vancouver aquarium, the aquarium was quite good and had seals, otters, whales and dolphins as the main exhibits, along with loads of fish and other stuff inside.

Vancouver Aquarium We headed back to the Hotel and packed up our bags and checked out at mid-day, and the Hotel allowed us to leave our car in the secured car park. We then went back to the Aquarium and saw a couple of exhibits we hadn't seen earlier on. Vancouver Aquarium
We then walked through the Stanley park forest to get to the outdoor swimming pools, on the way we saw some raccoons near the petting zoo.

The trails in the woods very nice, and the trees were very big in place, I wish I'd gone cycling here the previous day rather than on the sea wall as the trails looked like they would have been fun on a bike, not sure how bike legal the trails are though.
Stanley Park - Outdoor Swimming Pool We got to the pool at around 1.30am and had a good swim in the pool which was 50m long. The swim cost us $4.95, and there were warm outdoors showers you could use after swimming. We then walked to the Fish House Restaurant where we had a great fish and chips meal. We then headed back to the Hotel, on the way I bought more cream puffs. We then drove to airport through heavy traffic and got to the airport at 4.15pm. We parked up in the short stay car park, and clare checked in for her flight. BA00084 scheduled to leave at 20:35.
Vancouver Airport - Jumbo Jet I headed off to drive to Pemberton and Clare waited for her Plane. Clare got lucky while waiting to board the place as she got an upgrade to Business class. Vancouver Airport - Jumbo Jet

After dropping Clare off I drove to the International Travel Maps store to buy the Southern Chilcotin Mountains Trail Map, as I did not want to risk getting to the Chilcotin's and not have a map. Then I drove through very heavy traffic across Vancouver to head to Pemberton. The roads in Vancouver just aren't big enough for all the people that live there.

I stopped at the MEC in north vancouver and had a look around, but everything was either the same price or more expensive than it was in England. I also went to Cove bikes, and bought my self a spare tyre and some sealant just in case I ripped a tyre when riding up in the Chilcotin's as there aren't any bike shops up there.

I stopped off at Walmart on the way to Pemberton and bought some groceries before continuing on to Pemberton, where I arrived quite late at about 9.20 pm at the Log House B&B

The nice lady who let me in gave me a load of tasty banana bread and fresh orange juice, I also used the Hot Tub which helped sooth my aching back after the long drive from Vancouver.

From what I could see in the dark the B&B was very nice.
