Click to Enlarge From Buena Vista we headed west along CR306, driving towards Cottonwood Pass. The CR roads were all made of graded dirt - but were in good shape so we made good progress. We stopped at the top of Cottonwood pass elevation 12,126ft , and went for a short hike. Click to Enlarge

Click to Enlarge We stopped at Taylor Lake briefly to stretch our legs, before making the final drive for Crested Butte. The drive was about 150 miles, but going over the pass was more direct than using the main roads. Click to Enlarge
We drove along Jacks Cut off and finally arrived in Crested Butte. We checked into the Sheraton at Mt Crested Butte and got a King size suite for $8 a night. The Hotel had a secure room for bike storage (Hotel has since changed hands and you are not allowed to have bikes in the Hotel). The room was very nice with good views but there was a load humming noise from a vent in the Bathroom. Click to Enlarge
