I decided to head on over to the 18 road area again as I had really enjoyed the riding there the previous day, and I wanted to have an easier riding day. It was a nice sunny day about 70f with a light breeze. I met a couple of Canadian's in the car park and we had a chat about the trails, they had been given a route by a local shop that they were pretty determined to do, even though I suggested what I thought would be some other cool routes. I decided to ride up PrimeCut to do Chutes and ladders. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge
18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge Prime cut is a great singletrack which winds its way up and down amongst the juniper trees until it gets to Chutes & ladders, all it was very ride able apart from one big boulder I couldn't ride up and over (It looked do-able but I didn't want to add to my existing injuries). Chutes and ladders had very steep ups and downs which cling to the edge of the cliffs - apart from when I stopped to take pictures I managed to ride all of the ups and downs. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge
Once the chutes and ladders section is over you then blast down a singletrack trail to the car park through the meadows, very fast and fun. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge

18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge I then connected on the Front side trail, a brilliant singletrack which has some great steep ups and downs countering around the Book cliffs. I met up with the Canadians again at this point on the trail. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge
18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge Turns out the route they had been given sucked somewhat, as it would have been better if the had gone up Primecut or Kessel rather then riding up roads to get to where they connected to the front side trail. I then carried on riding along the trail. I really enjoyed the challenging climbs all of which I made, with a great deal of huffing and panting. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge
18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge I stopped at the Zippety Do Da trail head, and munched a power bar. Then I headed off down the trail. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge
18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge Trail was great fun to ride, as it made its way along the ridges. Unfortunately two of the downs which required tight downhill turns before plummeting steeply down were too intimidating for me to ride, so I walked these corners and then zipped down the hills. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge

I got back to the car park, and met the Canadians again, they said they had really enjoyed their ride, in particular riding down Kessel Run. And they asked me if i'd like to meet them for dinner that evening. I agreed and said i'd ring them when I finished riding as I still had several more trails to ride in the area.

Next I rode up 18 road and then headed down Prime Cut.

18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge Primecut was great fun to ride down, fast sections of singletrack with just a few up hill sections to ride. When I got back to the car park I rode up 18 road again and connected onto Kessel Run trail.
18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge Riding down Kessel was a hoot, it was very fast with lots of banked corners and steep ups and down you just rolled through. Only down side to this trail was I caught my leg on my chain rings while putting the bike down to take a photo. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge
18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge I got back to the car park and decided to do one more ride Joe's Ridge, I headed up 18 road until I saw a sign for joe's ridge which I rode up, it was only when I started to ride up the ridge I realized I was not riding to the start of the trail. But was actually riding up it. I decided to carry on and there was only one section of the ridge I had to push my bike up. 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge
The ride back down the ridge was great very fast , and the ride really flowed well. I then headed back down Kessel run to the SUV. The cycle computer was telling me i'd ridden 25 miles that day, so much for having a rest day 8-) 18rd trails Fruita - Click to Enlarge

I then headed back to the hotel where I had a swim and Hot tub. I then got in touch with the Canadians and we arranged to meet and have dinner at a place called Tequilas (2560 North Avenue) in Grand Junction. The food and company was great, but the service was pretty bad.
