Holiday Fall 2004

We decided to revisit Colorado as we had enjoyed our last visit so much, and also visit a place we had never been to before Yellow Stone National Park in The Autumn of 2004

Originally we were going to start our holiday in the first week of September as we knew from our last Holiday to Colorado the weather is pretty good at that time year. But a major project at work meant that we had to delay the holiday by a couple of weeks. So instead of arriving at the start of September we arrived in Colorado towards the end of of the Month.

The holiday was fantastic the best ride we did was the Monarch Crest Trail (with snow), the area with the best concentration of single track trails was Fruita, and we wish we had spent more time there than down at Moab.

We booked up a direct flight to Denver and a return from Phoenix with British Airways from London Heathrow, an SUV from Avis, and pre-booked just 2 Hotels our first Hotel was the Quality Inn in Boulder and our last Hotel was a Hampton Inn in Denver (Cherry Creek)

We had in mind the places we wanted to visit , but made our route up as we went, trying to keep ahead of bad weather and find warm dry places to hike and cycle. Originally we were not planning on going as far west as Utah but, the weather in Colorado turned for the worse whilst we were at Crested Butte, so we fled the sleet and snow for the warmth of Moab.

The Long drive to Yellowstone was well worth it as Yellowstone was a very memorable place to visit, and its not every day you get to hike in a super volcano !!
